Scanfiber has developed an improved Spall liner to increase the level of protection against "Spalls" resulting from an RPG or a powerful IED. Not even the thick armor of an MBT can withstand the blow of an RPG hitting the vehicle directly. Likewise, a standard Spall liner is often inadequate in terms of reducing the amount of "Spalls" released from the original armor.
Scanfiber has therefore developed a Spall liner concept that combines both a hard and a flexible Spall liner layer. The combination of these has shown in a test that the number of penetrations in the inner Spall liner is reduced by more than 50% and that the "spall" angle is significantly reduced compared to the angle of traditional armour.
