Not even the thick armor of a Main Battle Tank (MBT) can withstand the impact of an RPG hitting the vehicle directly. Similarly, a standard spall liner is often insufficient to reduce the amount of "spalls" released from the original armor.
In this context, Scanfiber has developed an enhanced spall liner that increases the level of protection against "spalls" caused by an RPG or a powerful IED.
Scanfiber’s spall liner concept combines both a hard and a flexible spall liner layer. In testing, this combination has been shown to reduce the number of penetrations in the inner spall liner by more than 50 percent, while significantly reducing the spall angle compared to traditional armor.
